Happy with the way we compete; important matches are coming for us – Gabriel Milito

07/02/2026 08:16 / Roberto García

Chivas traveled to the Pearl of the Pacific and achieved their objective: they added three more points in the Clausura 2026 and confirmed their place at the top of the standings as the only team with a perfect record so far.

At the same time, they once again showed the strong collective play that has defined them under Gabriel Milito’s management. The head coach emphasized this in his post-match press conference, where he also took the opportunity to praise the squad’s current form heading into what lies ahead.

“It was our goal to start this way, with good play and also good results.”

“It’s not easy to win five matches in a row, but we’ve done it on merit, with good moments.”

“I’m very happy with the way we compete; there are certainly still things to correct. That’s what the week is for—we’ll talk and work to improve certain aspects.”

“Regarding Luis Romo, he had a significant issue in his hamstring and tests will be needed to know the results. It’s too early to say for sure what happened.”

“José Castillo had an issue with his ankle; it’s something minor. He’ll recover well.”

“There are no easy matches. Three very important ones are coming for us, starting with the first one. We play at home against our classic rival, and it will be a good test for us.”

“For us, it’s important to keep competing and to reaffirm what we’ve been doing—and if possible, do it even better.”

“Today’s win was very necessary. In the first half we were able to score two goals and had chances to get the third and close out the match.”

“The group is doing well. Now we have a week in which we’ll decide how to play, but we have full confidence in the entire squad.”
