Chivas Dominated and Kept Pushing but Settled for a Draw Against Tigres

17/10/2026 19:44 / Melissa Hernández

The scoreline did not fully reflect what unfolded on the pitch at AKRON Stadium tonight. Chivas played attractive soccer and dominated much of the match, but ultimately had to settle for a 1-1 draw against Tigres on Matchday 12 of the Apertura 2026. With this result, Guadalajara reached 20 points and remain among the top teams in the standings.

From the opening whistle, El Rebaño took the initiative and dictated the pace of the match. However, Tigres capitalized on a defensive lapse in the 36th minute to take the lead. Far from giving up, the team coached by Gabriel Milito maintained the pressure and created several dangerous chances that forced Nahuel Guzmán to work hard. Before halftime, Chivas' strong spell led to Juan Brunetta losing his composure and being sent off, leaving the visitors from Monterrey with 10 men.

After the break, the Rojiblancos came out determined to find an equalizer. Their persistence paid off in the 77th minute, when Jordan Carrillo finished off a move inside the box to beat Nahuel and level the score. Guadalajara continued pushing for a winner until the final whistle, but could not find the decisive goal, largely due to the visiting goalkeeper's interventions.

Now, El Rebaño will have another opportunity to return to winning ways this Tuesday, when they host Necaxa on Matchday 13 of the Apertura 2026. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 PM at AKRON Stadium.
